First step:

1) Question to investigate
2) Sources
3) Larger idea to prove

Source Analysis Sheets:

1) MLA Citation Format for source
2) Bullet points of key information from source (quotes you may use for project)
3) Short reflective paragraph: How does this source add to your project? What might you write about this source in your brochure?
4) What is the next step in your research?

Session 1: Men and Women in the Teachings of Jesus and Muhammad
Neither Jesus nor Muhammad intended to found a new religion. Rather, both believed their teaching centred on obeying God’s will, and, in a very real sense, both men were religious reformers. Not surprisingly, though, Jesus and Muhammad were viewed by their contemporaries as radicals. In this session, we shall examine how each of these religious leaders saw the roles of men and women in their respective societies, revealing the extent to which their perspectives ultimately differ from contemporary religious doctrines of today. Central to the issue is the question of whether Jesus and Muhammad were speaking only in a theological context, and consequently did not carry this over into the everyday real lives of their followers. Of equal importance is whether we moderns can avoid stamping our own philosophical values and beliefs onto the teachings of these two great leaders.

This key point in my brochure because this shows how the roles of men and women. and how both religions are some thing like the same.

Session 4: The Role of Men and Women with Christian and Muslim Communities
For centuries the roles of men and women remained fixed and unquestioned within the Christian and Muslim worlds. These may have differed somewhat according to the local cultures but in almost all locales women became subservient and indeed may be called “the lost sex”. Throughout the centuries Christians and Muslim were well aware of the teachings of their respective Scriptures. In addition, both traditions had developed a corpus of literature interpreting the Scriptures that instructed the faithful on the teachings. We may ask, however, why did both traditions seem to reject the attitude and teachings of Jesus and Muhammad towards the place of women. Given that the communities were well aware of the leader’s positions on women, why did they revert back to older traditions that allowed men to dominate in almost every facet of life? Did both the Christian Church and the Muslim community fall back into pre Christian and pre Muslim practices primarily because of surrounding cultural influences?

These sources added to my paper in many way. One of them maybe showing the different roles the males and female has in teaching the religion. another is the roles of a male and females as a family. These all tie the religion with gender together.

next step in my research: I have to find out, if you dont follow there role how are they affected.

Refection
I learned that almost every religion is similar in their own way. Also you can receive religion in many different ways, plus
spirality

Final Steps:

1) Double check your project against rubric. Make any final tweaks.

2) At end of project (after Works Cited), take 20 minutes to write up responses to the following. Title it Reflection.

  • Overall summary of your learning from religion unit (focus on 2-3 general understandings).
  • Why did you choose this topic? What different things did you learn while researching and creating the project?
  • How do you feel about the final product? What are its strengths and what are its weaknesses?

3) Comment (using the discussion tab) on three other projects. Respond to the projects in specific ways. (It's interesting how... I wonder about.... I like the way you....)
